Very dark, maroon coloured leaves emerge in spring, changing to a dusky dark green in summer. Pretty white star-shapes flowers in late spring are shown off well against the dark foliage. Unlike most clematis, Velvet Night is not a climber. It forms a loose sprawling habit, happy to grow between and around other plants. Very hardy and easy to grow.
