Globe shaped strong purple flower heads held proudly above strappy mid green leaves. I find they are very tough and can handle most soil conditions – just not waterlogged soil. They happily naturalise in the garden making them great for a meadow garden or a ‘free range’ perennial border that is allowed to have character rather than a neatly trimmed and organised planting. They are mesmerising in the way their flower heads move in the wind and almost defy gravity given the size of the head and thickness of the stem. A great lure to your garden for bees and other pollinators.
